CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Capacity development specialist (e-Learning Content Curation and Development), to create integral educational solutions for CIMMYT Academy projects. This includes the identification, design, delivery and documentation of the processes supporting the learning and development initiatives through Learning Management Systems (LMS) as part of CIMMYT Academy’s Capacity Development programs for the benefit of its partners and communities we serve.

 

The position will be based at CIMMYT headquarters in Texcoco, State of Mexico, near Mexico City.

 

Specific duties:

  • Lead and develop content for Capacity Development training programs, especially by content curation, content cleaning, and course development in coordination with CIMMYT’s researchers, based on the identified learning needs and desired outcomes.
  • Co-design capacity development solutions and interventions with the research programs at CIMMYT and other technical partners that collaborate with the Academy.
  • Plan, develop and/or support in the planning, preparation, and development of training courses.
  • Manage the production, editing, and instructional design of eLearning and face-to-face courses.
  • Lead the content and e-learning course development works for Academy along with the team by instructional designing the courses, storyboard development, e-learning development, and delivery of courses, as required.
  • Contribute to web development, multimedia, and technological support for the Academy.
  • Technical management will likely involve a combination of guidance, training, facilitation of organizational assessments, and development of strategies and institutional strengthening plans.
  • Provide strategic guidance on the implementation of Capacity Development and training activities with research programs.
  • Contribute to the documentation and systematization of capacity development processes.
  • Build engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and knowledge transfer.
  • Contribute to the LMS project development, acting as a super user and supporting the users on the training.
  • Create course content, including expository text, scripts for animated and testimonial videos, learning activities, and assessment questions that enhance retention.
  • Support in secondary research and identification of suitable education and capacity development opportunities.
  • Quality assurance of the developed learning courses by proofreading, applying adult and online learning principles, and implementing improvements in the final course.
  • Document all the procedures pertaining to the CIMMYT Academy
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by their supervisor.
  • The candidate must have a bachelor degree / master’s degree in Agronomy / Agriculture/ Agriculture Education or related fields with a minimum 3-year experience in agriculture education/ training/ e-learning/ agriculture extension domains etc.
  • Has worked in training content development, training program preparation, training. implementation or as a resource person in the agriculture domain
  • Basic knowledge of protocols and administrative and/or operational procedures of the research support function.
  • Has strong technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced level in MS Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Instructional design experience will represent an advantage.
  • Advanced level of English language (English test will be administered; candidate must score a minimum of C1 as per CEFR).
