Scope of work
The Field Investigator will be responsible for developing field strategies and conducting field analysis, research on the local Industry workers associations, Liaison with the local bodies and networking. The Field Investigator will report to the Program Manager.
 
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct Social, Civic and Labour Rights awareness programs
  • Conduct meetings with women workers
  • Providing data to SLD for research purposes
  • Designing and using pamphlets
  • Conduct research as and when required for SLD
  • Provide trainings to women workers
  • Organize women workers for training, workshop and research related activities
  • Produce reports of training, workshops and field visits 
  • Engagement with multiple stakeholders at the grassroots level
  • Identify and support documentation of best practices and lessons learned and share with program managers and relevant stakeholders to maximize impact of the projects
  • Establish a strong network with local agencies, government bodies, and other civil society organizations to strengthen the implementation of program of the organization
  • Build relations with workers collectives in the field and facilitate their capacity building
  • Engage with women workers for building workers’ collectives, SHG’s, and/or associations
Work Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years demonstrable experience of development and field work
  • Proven experience as Field Researcher/ Investigator/Organizer
  • Experience with Garment and Leather Industry will be an added advantage.
Qualification & Core Competencies:
  • Education: Post Graduate in Social Work, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Labour studies or any other equivalent discipline
  • Fluency in Hindi and English.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate at all levels with tact, diplomacy, and cultural sensitivity, to a wide range of stakeholders at different levels
  • Willingness to travel and undertake field work
  • Knowledge of Labour Laws, Industrial practices and norms.
  • Ability to coordinate and work with small to mid-size team(s)
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task, meeting reporting deadlines
  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office 360)
  • The position will be initially based out of Ludhiana; and later involve Kanpur.
Type of Appointment
Contractual appointment with fixed term of 12 months. Renewal thereafter on basis of performance and requirements of project/SLD.
 
Remuneration: 2.4 LPA. Compensation will commensurate with experience/caliber and in line with the organizational structure.
