Mission and objectives

Youth Co:Lab positions young people front and center in order to solve the region’s most pressing challenges. Co-created in 2017 by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Citi Foundation, Youth Co:Lab aims to establish a common agenda for countries in the Asia-Pacific region to empower and invest in youth so that they can accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through leadership, social innovation and entrepreneurship.

Context

Within this regional context, the Youth Empowerment Portfolio in Asia and the Pacific (YEP-AP) aims to invest in and empower young people across the region, accelerating the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. The portfolio is guided by UNDP’s strategy on youth as transformative agents in addressing development challenges. It is also in alignment with UNDP’s Gender Equality Strategy, with the portfolio’s interventions guided by a gender action plan to achieve gender transformative results. The YEP-AP adopts an integrated approach, supporting countries in addressing issues at multiple levels, particularly focusing on the intersection of youth with key themes such as climate action, entrepreneurship, and governance through an intersectional lens The portfolio aims to operationalize the LNOB approach by placing a key focus on empowering marginalized youth, including those belonging to or serving women, LGBTIQ+ communities, people with disabilities, indigenous peoples, and migrants and displaced people. Mapping existing funding opportunities aims to add value to potential resource mobilizations opportunities which further strengthens YEP-APs pool of partners in the work to serving youth from across the Asia-Pacific region. .
