Background

The Resource Mobilization Division (REM) oversees coordinating resource mobilization efforts across the institution to engage with multiple stakeholders ranging from donor governments, multilateral institutions, National Societies, the private sector including corporates, foundations, HNWI, UHNWI and the public to maintain a sustainable stream of quality income for ICRC’s humanitarian operations worldwide. REM is one of the three divisions reporting to the department of Department of Mobilisation, Movement and Partnership (MMP).

 

As part of REM fundraising strategy, the Fundraising by Product (FbP) aims at enhancing donor engagement by offering them the possibility to support ICRC activities through fundraising products that are tied to specific themes. The FbP constitutes a pivotal component of REM fundraising strategy, designed to accelerate fundraising efforts and to seamlessly align with and address donor preferences. The approach also includes ongoing performance monitoring, ensuring continuous adaptation and improvement of products in line with operational developments and evolving donor interests.

Job Purpose

The Fundraising Product Officer position within the REM Product Team supports the team in achieving its fundraising objectives by leveraging data-driven insights and effective business analysis techniques. This role acts as a critical bridge between the fundraising and product development functions, with the aim of optimizing and aligning fundraising efforts with the development of fundraising-related products.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Product Requirements Elicitation and Documentation

  • Collaborate with fundraising team members to gather detailed and comprehensive requirements for fundraising-related products.
  • Conduct interviews, workshops, and surveys to thoroughly understand the needs and objectives of the fundraising team.
  • Create clear, concise, and well-organized requirement documents that serve as the foundation for product development

 

Data Analysis and Insights

  • Analyse fundraising data on donors to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Assess donor behaviour, campaign effectiveness, and contribution metrics to provide data-driven insights for decision-making.
  • Generate reports and data visualizations to communicate findings effectively.

 

Process Modelling and Improvement

  • Document and analyse existing Fundraising Product Workflows.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Propose and champion process enhancements to streamline Product Development and Management.

 

Technical Collaboration, Reporting, and Road mapping

  • Clarify technical requirements to ensure that Product development aligns with fundraising needs and internal capabilities.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between cross-functional teams.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success of fundraising products.
  • Create and maintain reports, dashboards, and performance tracking mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with product managers to prioritize fundraising-related features and enhancements within the product roadmap.
  • Ensure that fundraising initiatives are integrated into the development schedule and aligned with strategic goals.

Selection Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, data analytics, or a related field 
  • Typically 5 – 9 years of professional experience
  • Proven experience as a business analyst, with a focus on fundraising or product development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and processes.
  • Experience of product and project management
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
  • Very good knowledge of ICRC and fundraising mechanisms.

Skills

  • Capacity to manage complex projects autonomously while having the ability to create a collaborative network
  • Strong relationship builder with experience in engaging and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders to develop new activities and projects.
